Abstract

The modern Zionist movement began in the late nineteenth century, when it was able to create for itself universal legitimacy by relying on biblical religious beliefs, while exploiting the social status of Jews and their suffering around the world in what is called anti-Semitism. Zionism derives its principles from the Holy Books, which states that Palestine was given to them by the Lord, as they consider themselves the chosen ones on earth and that the divine promise gives them the right to own the promised land from the Nile to the Euphrates. Zionism succeeded in achieving its goal due to the hard work of its institutions - especially the cultural ones - Where clear steps were drawn for each of them to implement the settlement project, and the theater became a Zionist national institution, thus providing inspiration for the creation and formation of the Jew capable of carrying out the Zionist colonial mission. The Hebrew theater has moved away from being international literature, as the focus on the Zionist discourse in the play had the effect of abandoning the artistic aspects. The matter ended with the success of the Zionist project, and the achievement of the supreme and first goal of establishing the State of Israel in 1948. And after the success of Zionism in establishing the state in preparation for expansion and control over Greater Israel, the Jewish people discovered that the modern state of Israel was never the same as the Zionist project, which hoped to unite the Jews in a melting pot as one power, The Jewish people have lived through a series of wars and conflicts with the other over the past twenty-five years after the establishment of the State of Israel, a period that showed the difference in intellectual orientations among the members of the same people. This was not the only challenge that faced the Zionist project. Rather, the problems of the lived reality began to impose itself, the most prominent of which was the distinction between the different Jewish groups within the state. It has produced internal conflicts and permanent confrontations with the Israeli government, which threatens to disturb the structure of the Zionist entity. Theatrical discourse at the textual level after the establishment of the State of Israel and for twenty-five years was not far from these challenges, The suffering of the Jewish citizen affected the Zionist theatrical establishment itself, so the theatrical discourse became expressive and opposed to the political and social problems that the Jewish community went through. But the government did not let the art of expression or opposition be free, but rather tightened its control over every dissenting voice that might threaten the new state. The strength of the challenges that appeared on the ground exposed Zionism to several vibrations that threaten to strike its objectives in the continued survival of the Jewish people on the covenant. The matter may even go beyond the reluctance of the Jews themselves to commit to stability in the new land.
