An assessment of the Instructional Videos for the 1st grade of mathematics subject published by “Ein Dross” channel in Light of the Standards for their Development

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the content of the educational video tutorials published by "Ein Dorsh" electronic channel to identify the degree of inclusion, distribution, and compatibility of the general standards of development, the descriptive content analysis was employed. The sample contained 50% of the total number of Mathematics educational video tutorials. These video tutorials were published during the period 2015-2016 for Saudi 1st grade of primary school. Two evaluators observed and assessed the content of videos. The instrument of study consists of 53 indicators under three main areas (e.g. Educational, Documentation and personal, Technical area) and 11 criteria. The study revealed that there is no goodness of fit between the observed frequencies of the general standards for development and the expected frequencies in the sample. In addition, the result showed that the degree of inclusion for standards of Educational area (e.g. goals, presenting of the content, content and activities) found to be more available than the rest of standards.
