Abstract
The current research aimed at developing academic motivation (Empowerment, Usefulness, Success, Interest, and Caring) and achievement of freshmen college students in the light of MUSIC model, and identifying the remaining effect of the training program for the experimental group. The experimental method was used because it is suitable for research nature and aims. Research sample included (60) freshmen college students in faculty of education, general section, mathematics department, Beni-Suef university at second term 2017-2018; divided into experimental group (n=30) and control group (n=30). The following tools were used: Academic Motivation Scale by (Jones & Skaggs, 2016), adapted by the researcher, students grades in the first term (as a pre test of achievement) and in the second term (as a post test of achievement), and the training program by the researcher. By using T test and Eta-squared, research results revealed the effectiveness of the training program on developing academic motivation of freshmen college students with its all components; there were significant differences between experimental and control group in the post test of academic motivation (Empowerment, Usefulness, Success, Interest, Caring, and the total score) and achievement in favor of experimental group, there were significant differences between pre and post test of academic motivation (eMpowerment, Usefulness, Success, Interest, Caring, and the total score) and achievement of experimental group in favor of post test. Besides, the remaining effect of the training program appeared in the non existence of significant differences between post and follow up test of academic motivation (eMpowerment, Usefulness, Success, Interest, and Caring, and the total score) of experimental group.
