Abstract

The study aimed to develop and examine the effectiveness of Story Mapping Instruction program to improve reading comprehension skills for students with learning disabilities in the sixth-grade in Jordan. The study sample consisted of 40 students with learning disabilities in schools with resource rooms. The Story Mapping Instruction program was developed through several stages and then it was necessary to examine the validity and the reliability as they were acceptable for the purposes of the study. The study used experimental method, where pre-test and pos-test were applied on two groups after the training program applied only to the experimental group. To answer the research questions; the means and standard deviations of items and the total score were extracted. The covariance analysis (ANCOVA) was used to determine the differences in scores on the sub-domains and the total score on the test. The results indicated the effectiveness of Story Mapping Instruction program to increase the comprehensive skills to members of the study sample.
