فلسفة البنية في النحت الحرکي _ متحرکات کالدر نموذجا : دراسة وصفية تحليلية

Abstract

    This study deals with the Philosophy of structuralism in the works of the contemporary sculptor Alexander Calder. It approaches the art of post modernity, discusses the changes in the concept of art that this era has brought about and shows how modernist features receded and focal conceit which had been for long a matter of concern to modernity disassembled. The study also deals with the theory of structuralism in that the researcher considers many views adopted by those thinkers whose theses had obvious repercussions on art in the postmodern stage. In addition, the study discusses the concept of kinetic art; the researcher points out this kind of art's basics, principles and primitives, looking at it as an aspect of art relating to post modernity. While dealing with the works of Calder the researcher examines the style and philosophy of this artist regarding his sculptural mobiles; he also analyses samples of Calder's sculptures so as to achieve the current study goals. The researcher has drawn up conclusions based on answering the research questions; the most important conclusion of his is that the media machinery and film making both had effects on shaping Calder's sculptural mobiles, for he endeavored to create a motion that didn't exist in the art of sculpture before. Another important conclusion is that the philosophy of structuralism influenced the formation of art. Furthermore, the researcher has concluded that kinetic sculpture expressed the style of civilized modern life since carving process became associated with machine; this, for its part, paved the way for technology to be a factor in art production.
