The effect of using microteaching technique in developing teaching competencies of gifted student’s teachers In Saudi Arabia

Abstract

       The study aimed to identify the effect of using the method of microteaching techniquein the development of teaching skills of gifted students teachers in Saudi Arabia, by comparing the effectiveness of each method of microteaching techniquewith the traditional method in giving teachers the competencies (knowledge, performance skills, and attitudes). To achieve these objectives, the researcher constructed an observation form . It consisted of (45) teaching behaviors that were divided into (3)  major teaching competencies. The participants were (30) teachers of gifted students in Ar’ar. They were divided into two groups: experimental group (n=15) and control group (n=15). The experimental group was trained by microteaching technique while control group was trained by traditional technique. Results revealed the following findings:                                
- A significant differences were found between both experimental and control groups in the level of competencies of knowledge, performance skills, and attitudes. The differences were in favor of the experimental group.
-The microteaching technique was significantly more effective in improving teaching competencies than the traditional technique.
    The study concluded that microteaching technique should be used in preparing gifted students teachers within preservice and inservice due to its effectiveness in improving teaching competencies.
