Abstract

The research aims to study the reflective practices in the field of educational supervision; and submit a proposal to oversee reflective model to guide our public schools manager’s practices with regard to their supervisory role. In the theoretical framework, the research includes: the concept of reflective supervision and some other modern educational supervision methods and fields of reflective supervision in the light of the professional development requirements. Research tool is questionnaire on reflective supervision practices for school managers in Alexandria.  The questionnaire includes in its final form (23) items distributed on five dimensions:          (decision-making, reflective observation, the scientific basis of the supervisory process, reviewing teachers, and human relations in supervisory process). The questionnaire indicators of reliability and validity are valid. The sample consists of (120) public-education school managers in Alexandria.
The result indicates that managers included in the sample displays a high degree of response to the practices of reflective supervision regarding their supervisory. Moreover, there are statistically significant differences of (1%) between the main scores of male and female managers in the questionnaire of reflective supervision practices: (total score) and (decision making) and (the scientific basis of the supervisory process) in favor of male managers. The results also show that there are not any significance differences in main scores in the questionnaire regarding differences in stage (primary - preparatory - secondary), and the type of school (governmental - private).
In conclusion, the research suggests a model of reflective supervision to be applied to schools.
