Response strategies from the prespective of the Expert Reader for Stanley Fish An Analytical and critical Study

Abstract

This study discusses the response strategies of the expert reader of the American critic and thinker Stanley Fish With the aim of revealing the cognitive and theoretical role played by Fish in the development of the categories of reception theory since the seventies until today .The study starts from examining the origins of the theory of reception, the philosophical and literary ideas that have been affected by it, and the concept of the reader in each of them, and how they approach the creative process in its relationship with the author and the reader.
Then it discusses The general principles of Stanley Fish’s critical thought, and his position on the previous theories such as formalism , stylistics and structuralism, as a prelude to researching Fish’s theory and its basic foundations, especially his concept of the expert reader, its features, characteristics and conditions that him, must be met in it,  so that he can create the  text through his interaction with him, i.e. from during the act of  reading. What are the reader’s response mechanisms, and the means by which reading is productive and effective? In addition to his important handling of the concept of the interpreted community and it’s role in broadening the horizon of reading the text, and responding to the criticisms leveled against the concept of the expert reader, the most important of which are the chaos of interpretation. Then we end with the results of the research that deal with our critical position on the theory of reception in general, and Stanly Fish in particular, and the relationship of the process of reception to theatrical performance.
