The research aimed to develop the career readiness and employability of graduates in Egyptian universities in light of the experience of Carleton University in Canada, the University of South Carolina in the United States of America, and the Queensland University of Technology in Australia, and in accordance with the nature of Egyptian society. This goal can be achieved through:
Shedding light on the theoretical foundations of career readiness and employability of graduates in contemporary educational literature.
Presenting the efforts of career readiness and employability of graduates in Egyptian universities.
Identifying the experience of Carleton University in Canada, the University of South Carolina in the United States of America, and the Queensland University of Technology in Australia in career readiness and employability of graduates, and what cultural factors are related to it.
Identifying similarities and differences in career readiness and employability of graduates at Carleton University in Canada, the University of South Carolina in the United States of America, and Queensland University of Technology in Australia, and interpreting them in light of some relevant social science concepts.
Reaching a proposed vision for developing career readiness and employability of graduates in Egyptian universities in light of the lessons learned from the experience of comparative universities, and in a manner consistent with the nature of Egyptian society.
The research relied on the comparative approach with its five dimensions (the historical dimension, the descriptive dimension, the cultural analytical dimension, the interpretive comparative dimension, and the predictive dimension). This is in order to study the experience of some foreign universities in career readiness and the employability of graduates, so that it can be benefited from in developing a proposed vision. while relying on the opinions of some educational experts in judging the suggested prospect to insure its reliability and feasibility.
The research resulted in a number of results, the most important of which are: The career readiness and employability of graduates in Egyptian universities suffers from many negatives: the lack of interest of academic advisors in developing students’ awareness of the community resources and services available to them, and the maintenance of specializations and branches of study that are not important to the labor market in universities. Employers also do not communicate effectively with the education system, students and parents about the skills they need, and there is no way to continuously communicate with graduates. To know the challenges they face, which leads to inaccurate data. In addition to the lack of a national entity responsible for linking university graduates with employment agencies.
The research reached a proposed vision for career readiness and employability in Egyptian universities in light of the theoretical literature and the experience of some foreign universities, and in accordance with the conditions of Egyptian universities. The vision consists of: the starting points of the vision, its objectives, a description of the proposed vision, requirements for implementation, its obstacles, and ways to overcome them.
