A comparative study of the role of some European Union Universities
in organizing innovation and the possibility of benefiting from them at
Kafr El-Sheikh University
The research aimed to develop the role of Kafr El-Sheikh University in innovation systems by benefiting from some foreign universities (the University of Bologna in Italy, the University of Vienna in Austria, and the University of Tallinn in Estonia).
The research relied on George Pereda's major solutions approach in comparative educational studies, which proceeds according to the following steps: description, analysis and interpretation, interview or debate, and comparison. The research adopted a preliminary hypothesis: adopting the model of some European Union universities (University of Bologna, Vienna, Tallinn) in the innovation systems standards may lead to developing the role of Kafr El-Sheikh University in innovation systems, and its validity was confirmed.
The research findings include: the disconnect between human capital and labor market requirements, which has led to a high unemployment rate among Kafr El-Sheikh University graduates, and the university's failure to disseminate and distribute knowledge; due to the lack of encouragement of employees to exchange knowledge among themselves, and the lack of support for scientific research efforts, in addition to the university's lack of scientific incubators and technical centers to transform scientific research results into marketable primary products.
