The digital age - which we are living now - has contributed to an unprecedented cultural convergence, as a result of the tremendous progress in information and communications technology, which has contributed to enriching our knowledge of different cultures, and building bridges of understanding and peaceful coexistence between peoples. However, at the same time, cultural convergence has led to serious risks that threaten the loss of cultural identity, as a result of the new values and customs it issues to us that conflict with our authentic values and customs; which have been accepted by many individuals, especially young people, which has led to their distancing from their original roots, the erosion of their cultural identity, and created a sense of cultural alienation, which threatens dire consequences for the cohesion and constants of society, if it is not addressed and reduced in the future.
Hence, the current study aimed to propose a set of ways to confront the phenomenon of cultural alienation in the digital age.
The study used the descriptive approach, through reviewing and analyzing educational literature, to establish a theoretical conceptual framework for cultural alienation, and to define its philosophical roots and most prominent determinants, and to define the nature of the digital age, its most prominent characteristics, and the manifestations of cultural alienation that resulted from it. In light of this, the study concluded by presenting a set of ways to confront this phenomenon.
