Psychological Capital and Its Relationship to Work Stress Among Middle School Teachers in the State of Kuwait

Abstract

           The study aimed to recognize the level of psychological capital and its correlation with work stress among middle school teachers in Kuwait. To achieve the study's aim, the descriptive correlational approach was adopted. Data were collected using a questionnaire that was administered to a sample comprising 320 randomly selected male and female teachers. The study revealed that the psychological capital degree among preparatory stage teachers in Kuwait was generally moderate, whereas the level of work stress was high. There were statistically significant differences in the level of psychological capital and work stress attributed to gender, education, and work experience variables. The study also found that there is a strong negative correlation between the total degree of psychological capital dimensions and that of work stress, representing 84%. The study recommended setting a model for work regulations based on fair task distribution and holding counseling programs to help teachers adapt to work stress.
