Abstract Objectives: The research aimed to explore the views of students of the Faculties of Science and Engineering at Kuwait University regarding the justifications for private tutoring. Method: The descriptive approach was used and a questionnaire prepared for this purpose was adopted, the questionnaire was presented to a group of arbitrators, and was modified according to their suggestions. The questionnaire now consisted of (16) items. The correlation coefficient was also calculated between the score of each item of the questionnaire and the total score of the questionnaire obtained from the exploratory study. The SPSS statistical package program was used to calculate correlation coefficients.Thequestionnaireincludes a set of demographic variables (sex - nationality - age - college - number of units passed - cumulative average). The sample of the study consisted of (418) male and female students from Faculties of Science and Engineering at Kuwait University. Results: The most important justifications for private tutoring from the point of view of students are as follows, in descending order according to the arithmetic mean: not taking advantage of the professors' explanation of their courses, the difficulty of the study material, and to obtain a high academic rate, and to obtain adequate summaries before exams. There are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) between the averages of the study sample about the justifications for private tutoring according to the cumulative average variable, and they were in favor of those with a cumulative average (less than 3 points). Conclusion: The research suggested several practical recommendations, including that professors use different teaching methods that consider individual differences among students, the curricula have to be reviewed before exams, and students to be trained for exams.
