The degree of contribution of psychological empowerment and academic Engagement to digital emotional contagion among female students at Tabuk University

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the extent to which psychological empowerment and academic Engagement contribute to digital emotional contagion, and to identify the extent to which psychological empowerment, academic Engagement, and digital emotional contagion differ according to the college. To achieve the study objectives, a digital emotional contagion scale was developed, and two scales for psychological empowerment and academic Engagement were used. The study sample was selected from female students expected to graduate from Tabuk University. The number of female students was (300) students, as they were selected through a random sample. The study was implemented in the academic year 2023/2024, and the analytical correlational approach was used. The results of the study indicated the existence of a negative correlation between psychological empowerment and academic Engagement with digital emotional contagion, and that both psychological empowerment and academic Engagement contribute to reducing digital emotional contagion by (7%). The results also indicated that psychological empowerment, academic Engagement, and digital emotional contagion do not differ among female students expected to graduate according to the college. Based on the results of the study, some recommendations were made, including the necessity of benefiting from developing psychological empowerment and academic Engagement to work on reducing digital emotional contagion. For female students expected to graduate through workshops and training courses.
